Observant site administrators will have noticed that the look and feel of the Facebook widget has evolved over the last couple of days. This change is due to a recent plugin update that was quietly announced by Facebook just a few weeks earlier.
What has changed for EHQ?
Depending on your choice of Facebook widget, the front end look is slightly different. The feed, for example, now features the page's banner on top, like you can see below.
Any changes to the admin side?
Yes, the available options to choose from in the Facebook widget have changed ever so slightly. You can now pick the widget as a 'Page Plugin', which will produce a feed as above, or use it as a 'Comments Button' or 'Follow' box.
Our analysis shows that a vast majority (over 95%) of all Facebook widgets across EHQ would have used the 'Page Plugin' option anyway. For you, there is nothing you need to do. If you have been using the now retired 'Subscribe Button' or 'Recommendation Button', you will need to update your project at some point, because the widget would be hidden now. If you are unsure, have a quick look at your project to make sure the widget works as desired.
